Ever get that knot in your gut that you could do more? That you could be more? That you are meant for better things? That you have so much more potential than what you are expressing in this given moment? Ever think that there are people in need of your resources, your creativity, and your vision. The sad thing is I think we all get this feeling at some point. We hit a fork in the road where we decide to listen to this feeling or simply ignore it. It is up to us to take that sign and capitalize on it.
That feeling gives us a window of opportunity and it will shut if we don’t go through it quickly enough. Who knows when it will open again, it may be days from now or years from now. It’s up to us to take the feeling regret and do something about it. It’s up to us to draw our line in the sand! It’s up to us to take a stand and declare I am no longer willing to dream, time to act! Time to get in the ring and fight!
Bruce Lee had a great quote, “Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” There is no doubt we must arm ourselves with the right knowledge, skills, and insight. This will all cut and trim our learning curve. It’s an essential piece of the puzzle but it is not the only piece. That will only get us so far. We have to take those weapons out to the battlefield and see how they work. See which ones work better than others. Heck we may find some tools that we never even thought about. We may find some leadership tools we learned are incredible in practice or some that merely sound good in theory.
Maybe it’s our time to use those “insights” we learned and find out for ourselves if they actually work and not just take everyone’s word for it. Maybe it’s time to say it no longer matters what others think, what matters is what I think. It is my life and I will no longer live it according to their standards. It is time to make all your dreams a reality. It’s time to build that reality. It’s time to no longer listen to the doubters. It is time to listen to your own voice. Listen to it and take the action that you know you need to take. The buck stops here.
“The Reasonable man adapts himself to the world; The unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man.” – George Bernard Shaw
